Long Bay is a postcard-pretty crescent of soft white sand on Anguilla, stretching close to a mile with clear, turquoise water and the easygoing, low-key feel typical of the island. It works as a wave-and-bump spot on consistent Caribbean trades, with riding that suits cruising, jumping and learning to play in small swell. The wind comes from the working NE, ENE, E and ESE sectors: a northeast flow drives the winter season from December to March and an easterly takes over in early summer through June and July, often around a solid 25 knots in peak periods and easing toward the mid-teens between seasons. The water is wave-prone but the broad sandy beach offers ample, open room to rig and launch with few obstacles. It stays uncrowded, with no big school scene, so you will often have plenty of space. The main hazard is rock, so scout the shoreline and entry points before you go. Friendly enough for improving beginners up to advanced riders on the windier days.
