Brighton Le Sands

chop
NSEW
Wind window
NE, SE

A reliable urban session right on Botany Bay in southern Sydney, Brighton Le Sands is a popular freeride and flat-to-choppy spot where city kiters squeeze in after-work sessions through the warmer months. It works best on the NE sea breeze, the most common summer wind, and also fires on SE, typically blowing 12 to 20 knots three or four days a week with the occasional 25-knot day. The water runs choppy across the bay, lively but manageable, making it a good fit for confident intermediates and advanced riders. The long sandy beach offers generous room to rig, launch and land, though it sits in a busy parkside setting. Expect crowds on classic NE afternoons in summer (roughly September to March) with local riders and schools sharing the water. There are no standout natural hazards beyond traffic on the water and the usual care around swimmers and other users. Best for intermediates and up.
