An hour south of Florianopolis near Imbituba, Lagoa de Ibiraquera is a shallow, safe lake spot that has become a southern-Brazil favourite for freestyle and flat-water progression, suiting beginners through advanced riders. The lagoon runs roughly half a metre to under two metres deep, flat and free of obstacles, so it is forgiving for first sessions and crashing tricks. Wind blows much of the year, best on the NE and S directions; the NE can feel gusty while the S tends to be steadier, with the prime window from September through March and speeds building to 20-25 knots in spring. Launch is off a sandy shore with room to set up, and being a contained lake there is no shorebreak or current to fight. It draws schools and a lively local crew, so expect company on classic windy afternoons. Few real hazards beyond shallow depth and other riders; a genuinely beginner-friendly spot.
Lagoinha de Leste is a wild, postcard-pretty cove on the southeast of Florianopolis island, framed by green mountains, soft white sand and rocky headlands, with no road access and only a long hike in from Pantano do Sul. That remoteness makes it an adventurous, uncrowded wave spot for intermediate and advanced riders rather than a casual session. It faces east-southeast and catches frequent northeast winds in spring and summer at 14 to 25 knots, while autumn and winter bring stronger south and south-southeast flows at 14 to 35 knots. The water is wave-prone open coast, so be ready for swell and shorebreak. Launch space is generous on the broad beach, but the surrounding rocks demand respect when sending or landing near the ends. Expect very few kiters given the access; there are no schools or facilities on the beach, so come self-sufficient and experienced.
