Santa Veronica (Salinas Del Rey)

Salinas del Rey, near Santa Veronica on Colombia's Caribbean coast between Cartagena and Barranquilla, is a high-energy, world-class destination that has hosted GKA World Cup stops. It's an open-coast wave-prone spot with near-flat water in the point bay and medium waves rolling in after the point, so freeriders, jumpers and wave riders all get their fix. The cranking trade winds blow side-on from the N, NNE and NE, averaging a powered-up 20-35 knots in the prime December-to-April season, with a lighter secondary window around mid-June to early August. The sandy beach gives a generous, open launch area. It's a popular hub with active schools, so expect company at peak times. Currents, wood logs and waves at low to mid tide make it best for intermediate and advanced riders; beginners should ride only under instruction.
