Mangroovy Beach is El Gouna's main kite hub on Egypt's Red Sea, a buzzing, school-heavy spot famous for reliable thermal wind, warm water and a long sandy launch. It suits everyone from first-timers to advanced freeriders, with the shallow inner zone ideal for lessons and progression. The reliable side-on N to NW thermal flow blows the great majority of days through the long April-to-November season, peaking in strength across the summer months. A wide shallow flat runs roughly 200m offshore before the water deepens into open chop, so expect easy standing-depth riding inside and bumpier conditions further out. The clean sandy beach offers loads of obstacle-free space to set up, launch and land, though shoes help against the odd shell or coral patch. Being the area's most popular spot, it gets genuinely crowded in peak season as several centres share the beach; spring and autumn are calmer.

Soma Bay / Palm Royale

mixed
NSEW

NW-NE

Soma Bay on Egypt's Red Sea coast is a flat-water dream and one of the country's most reliable kite destinations, with sunshine and wind on the great majority of days. A shallow, knee-to-waist-deep lagoon sheltered by a sandbar offers butter-flat water that is perfect for beginners and freestyle, while the outer edge picks up a little chop. The wind blows steadily from the northerly sector, N through NE and round to NW, with side-offshore breeze keeping the lagoon smooth; prime season runs May to October when 20-plus knots is the afternoon norm. The wide sandy beach gives plenty of room to lay out and launch, with school setups and storage along the front. Being a resort spot, it draws schools and holiday riders, so the lagoon can feel busy in peak months. Genuinely suits all levels, from first lessons to advanced freestyle.
