Aukrog (Laboe 2)

Just outside Kiel on the Baltic's Kieler Bucht, Aukrog is a flat-water playground favoured by beginners building water-starts and freestylers chasing pop off the large standing area. It works across a broad westerly arc, best in SW, WSW, W, WNW and NW, with the most reliable breezes arriving in spring and autumn (roughly April to June and September to October) while summer tends to run lighter. The water is mostly flat and shallow with little swell, ideal for learning, though the wind here is frequently gusty and can turn side-offshore on certain directions. Launch is off a sandy beach with generous room, but respect the strict nature-reserve zone nearby where launching, landing and riding are forbidden. Crowds build on good wind days with local schools active. The main hazard is rocks, so scout your launch line and stay clear of the protected area.
