Naxos / Glyfada (Glyfada)
Glyfada is a wild, undeveloped sandy bay on the southwest coast of Naxos, near Alyko and Kastraki, prized for its calm character and a mix of flat sections and small waves that suit everyone from learners to freeriders. It is a summer spot powered by the N Meltemi, which funnels side-shore between the Cyclades and blows hard and reliably from June through September, often 18-25 knots in peak months. The water is mixed, with flat, shallow water along the right side of the bay and small chop and waves further out across the wide bay. Launch space is excellent, an open expanse of white sand with little behind you to snag a kite. Compared with busy Mikri Vigla up the coast, Glyfada stays uncrowded, so independent riders and schools have room and rarely tangle. The main hazard is scattered rocks, so check the shallows; otherwise it is a comfortable spot for all abilities.
