Mykonos / Ftelia Bay

Ftelia is Mykonos's premier kite bay, an open, north-facing scoop near Ano Mera that catches the summer Meltemi head-on and rewards punchy, powered-up riding. The wind is northerly and arrives onshore, blowing hardest in July and August when 20-25 knots is routine and gusts can push past 30; it's reliable but raw, so come prepared to ride overpowered. Water is mixed, with flatter patches inshore giving way to building chop and short wave sections as the fetch from Tinos and Syros stacks up. The sandy beach offers a workable launch, though space tightens with summer sunbathers and you'll want to mind the rocks at the edges. It draws a steady crowd of kiters and a school presence in peak weeks, and the strong, gusty wind plus rocks make it best for confident intermediates and up.
