Gizzeria Lido (Hang Loose Beach)

Gizzeria Lido, home of the famous Hang Loose Beach, is one of Calabria's best-loved kite stations, with a relaxed, social vibe that peaks around its weekend beach parties. The riding suits everyone: open-coast chop builds into rideable waves on bigger days, so freeriders and wave fans both find something. Wind comes best from the NW thermal, a steady, fairly smooth sideshore breeze of roughly 12-25 knots that fills in reliably through the summer months, June into mid-September. The water is wave-prone but the launch is excellent, with a wide sandy beach giving plenty of clean room to set up, launch and land. It rarely gets uncomfortably crowded and several schools operate here, making it friendly for beginners through advanced. Stronger SW or NW frontal systems can push the wind well above comfort, so check the forecast.
