Set between desert dunes inside Peru's Paracas National Reserve a few hours south of Lima, Paracas Bay is a bucket-list spot famous for ferociously consistent wind and surreal scenery of flamingos and sea lions. The thermal wind builds through the day and peaks mid-afternoon, working across N, S, SSW and SW, with the strongest and most dependable sessions roughly from September through April when it can blow well into the 30s, though even the quieter winter months stay rideable. The water is mixed: shallow and relatively flat near the beach for cruising and learning, choppier as you head out, but the bay is fully enclosed so you always drift back to land. The wide sandy beach offers plenty of room to launch and land. It draws a steady stream of kiters from along the coast yet rarely feels packed thanks to the space. No major hazards beyond strong afternoon wind, so size down accordingly. Suitable for all levels.
