Fonte da Telha is the closest all-levels kite beach to Lisbon, perched at the southern end of the Costa da Caparica strip below long dunes and cliffs, with a relaxed ex-fishing-village atmosphere that fills out into a summer beach scene. It is a wave spot, but the swell here arrives smaller and more manageable than the heavier beaches further north, making it a friendly place to ride waves without getting overpowered. The workhorse wind is the northerly Nortada, which comes in steady and notably less gusty than many Portuguese spots, blowing most reliably through the May-to-September season, though storm winds make winter sessions possible too. The beach is wide and golden with plenty of open sand to rig, launch and land, so space is rarely an issue. It draws schools and rental operations and gets busy on sunny summer days, so expect company and a beginner-heavy crowd in peak season. The water is cold, so wear a good wetsuit, and mind other beachgoers when launching.

Lagoa de Albufeira, tucked below Costa da Caparica on the Setubal peninsula, is one of the Lisbon area's most versatile spots, pairing a sheltered shallow lagoon with the open Atlantic just over the sandbar. The lagoon's flat-to-choppy water and waist-deep zones make it a classic teaching ground and a freestyle playground, while the ocean side offers chop and swell for those wanting more. The wind is the dependable Nortada, funnelling in from the north to northwest mainly in the afternoons at around 18 to 25 knots, most reliable from May through September. Launch space on the sandy banks is roomy, though space tightens as water levels and the sandbar shift. It draws schools and gets busy in peak summer, so keep clear lines for swimmers and stay alert to fishing nets set in the lagoon. Suitable for all levels with care.
