Ocean Park, often called La Bomba or simply Kite Beach, is San Juan's main city kite spot, a wide sandy beach on the north coast that stays surprisingly under the radar for a capital location. It is an open-coast, wave-prone break: choppy through the windier winter months and flatter with small chop in summer, with the beach deepening gradually for easy water access. The wind blows the easterly trades from NE through SE, averaging 15 to 25 knots, but reliability sits around only fifty percent even in the December-to-May windy season, so check forecasts before committing. The beach is broad with room to rig and launch, though you must work around obstacles and other beach users. Crowds are moderate and the spot rarely feels packed, with a couple of schools operating on the sand. Hazards to respect are rocks in spots and swimmers sharing the water, so keep clear lines and stay alert; with care it works for beginners through advanced when the trades fill in.
