Oliva Nova stretches along the open Costa de Valencia just south of Gandia, a kilometres-long sandy beach backed by protected dunes that gives a relaxed, wave-and-bump feel suited to intermediates and advanced riders looking to play in surf. The reliable engine here is the thermal sea breeze that builds on sunny days from spring through early autumn, generally swinging through the east into a southeast and cross-off southerly in the afternoon at roughly 16 to 20 knots, with April to mid-September the prime window. The water is wave-prone open coast rather than flat, so expect swell and shorebreak to manage. Launch space is generous on the wide sand, though watch the dunes and any beach traffic. Crowds stay moderate outside summer, but note that kiting is banned here from 1 July through 31 August, pushing riders elsewhere in peak season.
