NE

Los Roques is a pristine 42-cay archipelago 140 km off the Venezuelan coast, a protected national park and a flat-water dream; Cayo de Agua is one of its outer, sand-fringed cays. The steady easterly NE trades arrive clean off open water, undisturbed by terrain, at around 15-22 knots, most reliable from January through May, with mid-November and December also rideable. You can cruise flat, knee-deep turquoise water over fine white sand for kilometres with no coral or rocks in the kite zones. Launching is off open sandy cays with endless space and almost nobody around, since most riding here is boat-based via kite cruises. Flat, shallow and uncrowded, it suits all levels, though reaching it takes a dedicated trip. Avoid August to October.
